I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned this before, but Babycakes is not a napper. Her usual ‘nap’ is about 20 minutes long after a feeding in my arms. If I try to move, she wakes up. If I get up, she wakes up. If I’ve successfully gotten up without waking her, she wakes up when I try to put her down in her rock and play, swing or crib. If she falls asleep in my Ergo, she wakes up within 5 minutes of taking her out. Needless to say, I am one tired momma without a lot of free time! I get that as a mommy of a bitty baby, ‘me time’ is no longer a word in my regular vocabulary. Still, it’s nice to dream about.
That being said, Babycakes will usually take one long nap a week. And by long, I mean several hours in the afternoon. I wish they were every day, but I’ll take what I can get! Today, she has been napping since 2:30; it’s now 5:00.
I have spent my afternoon ‘off’ lounging and it feels so luxurious. It’s so nice to go to the bathroom when I want, pour myself a drink with two hands, sit on the couch when I’m not breastfeeding and eat without having to worry about getting crumbs in her hair. If you don’t have kids yet, don’t take your down time for granted! Savor it while you can!
I have been wasting my afternoon away with my feet up and a laptop in my lap. There is a great cloth diaper hop going on right now, hosted by Eco Baby Mama Drama and Mama on a Green Mission. It started two days ago and runs through the 24th. There lots of great blogs taking part in the hop with giveaways for cloth diapers and accessories.
I mentioned in a previous post that I won many of the diapers in my stash from giveaways so you know it’s so worth it. I’ve literally saved hundreds of dollars in cloth diapers and supplies. It is time consuming to enter a lot of contests but when you win, it really pays off, literally. Many cloth diapers cost between $10-$30 so getting one for free is a huge budget saver. Time spent = money saved.
If you’re looking for a more traditional route of acquiring your cloth diapers, Diaper Junction is one of my favorite cloth diaper shops. They’ve got a huge selection of diapers, cloth diaper accessories and other mom/baby items. If you can’t tell yet, I’m quickly becoming a cloth diaper addict!
