Earth Friendly Play dough Recipe

Play dough is one of the go to activities in my preschool classroom. We’ve tried many different recipes, gingerbread play dough, peppermint play dough, oatmeal play dough and soap play dough just to name a few. All of the kids love it and it’s super easy to make no-cook versions during small group activities. One of my favorite go to play dough recipes happens to be one that involves cooking. If you’re a SAHM, this recipe is definitely worth trying with your little ones. The consistency is very similar to store bought play dough and you can use the ingredients that you most likely already have on hand. To make this play dough, you will need:
1 cup flour (not self rising)
1/2 cup salt
1 cup of water (with your choice of food coloring mixed in)
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar.
Mix the ingredients in a saucepan over low heat. Dough is ready when it forms into a ball while stirring. I find that I often need to add extra flour. Store in an airtight container.
